Practice Your Serve Here! Malta’s Top Tennis Clubs
Here’s the answer you’re seeking in short: Tennis Club Kordin (TCK) is the overall winner, it is a social club with high-quality facilities, a good tennis school and an array of tournaments running all year round. It is also super cheap to become a member. If money is not an issue for you, then I do recommend Marsa Sports Club where you have a vast range of facilities, but the social aspect may not reach the levels provided by TCK.
Let’s have a look at the full list…
As a sport, tennis is becoming more and more popular, so you can expect there to be more tennis courts sprouting around Malta where you can find a great tennis community and a place to polish your forehand.
These are some of my favourite tennis clubs around the Maltese archipelago!
Marsa Sports Club
This is one of the most popular tennis clubs in Malta and is the biggest of them all. It is a sports club which is home to a number of sporting disciplines. The grounds are home to 17 hard courts, 2 of which are indoor courts, a single clay court, 2 padel courts, 3 squash courts, and a host of other facilities, such as physiotherapy facilities and a large swimming pool.
The Marsa Sports Club hosts several open tournaments, both at a national and international level. Moreover, this is also home to the largest tennis academy on the island, the Asciak Tennis Academy.

Tennis Club Kordin
Situated close to Marsa Sports Club, one can also find Tennis Club Kordin, or TCK in short – a club with 4 blue-green hard courts situated at the top of a hill. Although it is significantly smaller than its competitor in Marsa, TCK has been at the forefront of the tennis scene when it comes to providing the best possible service.
Being a non-profit organisation, just like many others including Marsa Sports Club and Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club, TCK has worked hard and proudly hosts a mix of international, national and club-level tournaments all year round.
The club is also highly technological, with an AED installed on the premises, an online booking system that controls the lights and fingerprint access to anyone who desires to play at the club at any time of the day.
In addition to that, the club is home to an up-and-coming sport, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, as well as a tennis academy – Esther’s Tennis School.
You can enrol as a member for just €35.00 per annum. If you join later during the year, you can pay the pro-rata rate! At €35.00, this is one of the best deals you can get in and around any tennis club in Malta.

As a matter of fact, multiple people stated on their Google review that the place is generally buzzing with life, and is overall very well-maintained. Moreover, some also gave a shoutout to the Tennis School at the Club.
One user stated that TCK is “An excellent place for tennis. The coaches are very nice too. A relaxing spot for family sports”. Another user stated that “TCK is the place to be if you want to play tennis socially as well as in a tournament environment”.

Birkirkara Tennis Club
Birkirkara Tennis Club, BTC in short, is one of the more recent tennis clubs to have joined the official list of the Malta Tennis Federation. The club was officially set up in 1983 when it set up camp in Pembroke. After renovating an abandoned court, the club stayed here for several years. It was only after the year 2000 that the club got its hands on an area off Birkirkara by-pass, where here, the club has been operating with two hard courts. The hard courts are coupled with floodlights, a snack bar, showers, parking and other facilities.
Although the club has yet to reach the maturity of other clubs, it has come a long way thanks to its dedicated team. Since 2017, BTC has been organising a number of Singles Open Events, and these tournaments are loved by the tennis community here in Malta.
A full-year membership here will cost you €60 per year, or €20 if you are 18 years of age or younger. The club also offers family discounts on memberships and offers coaching sessions for young ones and adults, newbies and advanced players.

Rinella Tennis Club
Situated next to the Three Cities of Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua, lies the Rinella Tennis Club in Kalkara. The club is home to one beautiful hard court. The court underwent renovation in 2021, thanks to government funding. Regardless of its size, the club hosts many tournaments as well as coaching sessions. After a blood-pumping tennis session at the Rinella Tennis Club, you can go across the street to take a dip in the refreshing sea at Rinella Bay!
You can become a member here for just €31.00 per year.
Reviews
The saying small but mighty is quite true in this case. Positive reviews surround the Rinella tennis court on Google. Multiple users state that “the environment is great”, “superb service” and “court looks well maintained”. It has an overall score of 4.7 out of 5. What do you think?

Malta Union Club
Perhaps one of the less popular clubs, the Malta Union Club has two courts situated in Sliema. The club was founded way back in the early 1800s, hence, making it one of the oldest tennis clubs in Malta. However, it now proudly hosts a number of different disciplines, ranging from darts, to squash, table tennis and tennis. The club has two courts and in recent years, they have been renovated. This saw the introduction of LED flood lights, hence keeping up with the rest of the tennis clubs in Malta.

Lija Tennis Club
Lija is home to another small community of tennis enthusiasts. This is a quiet village found in central Malta. This small tennis club has around 100 active members. Lija Tennis Club will offer you some opportunities to get in on coaching classes and even to join a tournament or two. I might say that this is one of the lesser-known tennis clubs in Malta. This is perfect if you want a very small community to start with, brush up on your tennis skills and meet some new people.

Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club
Another club situated in the south of Malta is the Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club, commonly known as the VLTC. This tennis club is situated just a couple of minutes away from Tennis Club Kordin. One can say that a rivalry between these two clubs has been present since the beginning. This is understandable, given their almost identical geographical location.
VLTC is also an affiliate of the Malta Tennis Federation and is home to four hard courts which are equipped with floodlights and come with a clubhouse to welcome guests. Here, you can find some tennis coaches but there is no academy as of yet.
One can become a member here by paying the yearly fee of €40.00.

Mġarr is home to a single tennis court and a single pickleball court. However, pickleball is not a common sport here in Malta. Flood lights are also installed on both courts to ensure proper visibility during evening play.
One can easily become a member for just €25.00 per year, making it one of the most affordable tennis clubs in Malta!
